Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s most renowned industrial technology companies, approached us with a significant project for their Civil Aerospace division. As a long-term supplier to Rolls-Royce, we were asked to completely overhaul their global Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Guide. This guide is a critical asset for their workforce, particularly as the company has expanded and integrated several businesses over the years.
One of the main challenges was sifting through vast amounts of existing HSE content to create a condensed, user-friendly version relevant to their current workforce.
The new guide had to be accessible to a global audience and needed to exist outside their internal network, making it available anytime and anywhere, unrestricted, on the web.
Stage one of the project involved gathering all available HSE materials, which meant diving into hours of training and learning resources. We worked closely with Rolls-Royce department heads to streamline and simplify the content into bite-sized, easily digestible sections. Our team used instructional design expertise and graphic design to convert key messages into eye-catching infographics, clear layouts, and a balanced structure. The result was a static PDF featuring 13 chapters of engaging, condensed content. This PDF format was developed for users who prefer to download and read offline.
Once the static version was signed off, we moved to stage two: the creation of an interactive, digital HSE Guide using HTML5 and CSS3. This custom-built, dynamic version added another layer of engagement and accessibility for the global workforce, making the information easy to navigate and interact with. Additionally, we provided secure cloud hosting services, ensuring the guide could be accessed from anywhere without needing to log into the Rolls-Royce internal network.
The HSE Guide is an essential tool for Rolls-Royce’s Offsite Workers, delivering critical health and safety information in alignment with their Certified to Operate training. It serves as a quick reference guide, ensuring employees can always follow safe working practices, even when they’re far from the main company sites.
This comprehensive overhaul has provided Rolls-Royce with a modern, accessible HSE resource that meets the needs of their global workforce, allowing them to stay safe and informed wherever they are.
