Lufthansa Technik, a global leader in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services, operates across 32 companies with over 25,000 employees worldwide. To boost their learning and development initiatives, they relied on large, complex learning management systems. However, these systems were a bit too rigid, lacking the flexibility needed to tackle specific training challenges.
That’s where we came in. Lufthansa Technik turned to Studiowide to design and develop a microlearning training application to standardise their operating procedures across all maintenance divisions globally. One major hurdle was ensuring consistency in training materials across various locations. While Malta was the hub for in-person training, the goal was to replicate these standards across six main European sites, ensuring everyone was on the same page.
Working with Studiowide was a great experience, their expertise, ideas, and professionalism delivered an excellent result!

But it wasn’t just about upskilling current employees; Lufthansa Technik also wanted this training to be part of the onboarding process for all new hires. The challenge? The technical content was complex, and there was a real risk of losing learner engagement if the material wasn’t presented in an engaging and accessible way.
To tackle this, we created seven whiteboard animation videos that broke down the new Project & Performance Management process into clear, step-by-step segments. These short videos kicked off with an introduction to “a day in the life,” setting the scene for the six subsequent videos that dove into specific topics.
We worked closely with the management consultancy leading the change programme to ensure that all key learning points were creatively and engagingly presented, keeping learners hooked from the get-go. To make the training stand out from other initiatives, we designed the content in short, bite-sized pieces that were easy to digest and navigate.
When we presented our solution to the Lufthansa team, a standout feature was our ability to transform complex subject matter into engaging learning materials. We also introduced our Integrated Agile Learning Platform, which served as a dedicated Learning App for the Project & Performance Management topic.
This Learning App was a game-changer—it’s a cloud-based microlearning solution that any Lufthansa employee can access from anywhere in the world, whether they’re on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop. Beyond making learning materials easily accessible, the app also served as an administrative tool for managers, allowing them to seamlessly onboard learners, track progress, and guide them through to certification.
The project was a hit, with Lufthansa Technik praising the final solution for its effectiveness and engagement. We successfully standardised training across multiple locations while maintaining high levels of learner engagement, showcasing the value of our tailored approach.
