Although the company had a strong in-house marketing team driving traffic through social media, Google Ads, and referrals, it wasn’t enough to meet their ambitious growth targets. To add to this, many candidates were registering but not completing their applications, with only 50% making it to the ‘Tesso Approved’ stage.
Our first task was to identify the root of the problem. We quickly realised that the lack of a cohesive follow-up system—no automated emails or SMS sequences—meant prospects were slipping through the cracks. Their team was relying on phone calls to chase up incomplete registrations, which wasn’t effective and likely deterred some candidates.
To tackle this, we started with a SOSTAC workshop to get to the heart of what makes Tesso unique. We developed a persona profile for their ideal customer, diving deep into the details of who they are, what they need, and how Tesso could meet those needs. Armed with this insight, we redesigned their landing pages, making sure they highlighted all the benefits of working with Tesso and featured strong, clear calls to action.
Next, we set up a fully automated email and SMS sequence to nurture both completed and incomplete registrations. Successfully registered candidates received a confirmation email, while those who hadn’t completed the process got a series of reminders and educational content that underscored the benefits of becoming ‘Tesso Approved.’ These emails included everything from case studies to worker testimonials, all aimed at converting hesitant candidates.
We didn’t stop at email. We helped Tesso ramp up their digital presence with targeted Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google Ads campaigns. We created engaging video and image ads, split-tested them for maximum impact, and built an advanced lookalike audience to reach potential customers similar to their existing ones. These efforts dramatically increased site traffic and boosted new registrations, all while keeping ad costs impressively low—just £0.29 per click!
In addition to digital ads, we also focused on organic social media. By creating regular, branded content for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, we helped Tesso build a loyal online audience and drive more traffic to their website. But perhaps the most impactful element was the video content we produced. We filmed on location at a partner care home in Liverpool, capturing the human side of care work and telling the Tesso story through the eyes of real care workers. This video resonated deeply with both care homes and care professionals, giving Tesso a powerful tool to showcase their brand.
The results? Tesso saw a significant increase in the number of pending candidates converting to active ones. The nurture emails and SMS messages we created had fantastic open and click-through rates, leading to a higher response rate for their customer service team to follow up on.
