The North West, North Wales, and the Isle of Man Congenital Heart Network is a collaboration of NHS Trust hospitals focused on providing specialised care for individuals with congenital heart disease. As part of a national effort, the network ensures the highest standards of care for patients while working closely with other congenital heart networks across the country.
We were tasked with designing a website and developing a cohesive brand identity for the Network, which included creating a fresh logo to be featured across their promotional materials.
The website, built on WordPress, was designed to serve two primary audiences: patients and healthcare professionals. The public-facing areas of the site catered to patients and their families, offering vital information and support resources. Meanwhile, healthcare professionals were provided with a secure, private members’ area to access exclusive materials and collaborate with colleagues.
Working with the teams from Alder Hey and Manchester Children’s Hospital, we took time to understand the Network’s requirements and objectives. One of the project’s most exciting creative elements was the integration of stick families to visually represent the diverse user groups, which symbolised the “cradle-to-grave” care that the Network provides. This unique idea came from one of the team members and was brought to life through our graphic design process.
The website not only fulfilled functional needs but also captured the essence of the Congenital Heart Network’s mission—providing a welcoming, informative space for patients while ensuring healthcare professionals had the tools to continue delivering exceptional care.
The project was a great success, with the Network now equipped with a modern, user-friendly website and a unified brand identity that reflects their commitment to providing lifelong support for those with congenital heart conditions.
