Airbus Mobile, the assembly site for Airbus’s Commercial Airplanes division in Alabama, serves as a critical hub for the assembly and delivery of Airbus commercial aircraft in the U.S. Partnering with the Alabama Aviation Training Centre (AATC), the facility also offers specialised aviation training. When Airbus wanted to enhance their training methods, Studiowide was chosen to deliver, thanks to our proven experience with similar projects, such as the work we did for Lufthansa Technik.
The task was to digitise a new employee training programme that centred on learning and development, specifically around new processes and techniques.
While the coaching was initially instructor-led, Airbus’s senior management wanted to ensure the materials were available to all employees at the Final Assembly Line site and any suppliers involved. The aim was to create accessible, flexible training that could continue to benefit the workforce beyond the initial rollout.
In partnership with Project7 Consultancy, we got to work designing comprehensive training materials and creating presenter-style videos, all delivered via our Integrated Agile Learning Platform. The focus was to transform these lessons into digestible microlearning topics that could cater to a broad range of learners, from new starters to senior management.
Once the content was mapped out, we upscaled it with a consistent visual style, making use of infographics and icons for clarity. We produced 10 videos with a North American presenter to ensure the materials felt relevant and accessible for the workforce. Filmed on green screens in the U.S., these videos were then polished and edited in our Liverpool studios, adding motion graphics overlays to drive home the key points.
The training materials were structured into modules, aligned with the specific learning pathways of each user group. This ensured that every employee, no matter their role, could easily engage with and benefit from the new training programme. Delivered via our cloud-based Integrated Agile Learning Platform, the content was readily available to any number of employees or suppliers needing to upskill.
Today, Airbus Mobile has a robust digital microlearning platform tailored to its Final Assembly Line team. The system provides on-demand access to vital training processes, allowing employees to easily refresh their skills or learn new tools and systems.
Both Airbus and its partners were thrilled with the result, and there are plans to expand the platform further, digitising even more areas of their training for increased accessibility and efficiency.
