In a significant development aimed at tackling childhood obesity, we’re excited to announce that Alder Hey Children’s Hospital has chosen Studiowide to design and develop a brand-new website for the Complications from Excess Weight (CEW) Network.

The UK faces a growing childhood obesity crisis, with one in four children affected. This can lead to severe health issues like Type 2 diabetes, liver problems, and early heart disease. Mental health, breathing difficulties, and sleep problems are also prevalent.

The CEW Network, with its 21 clinics nationwide, offers a ray of hope. This pioneering initiative provides holistic care through a multidisciplinary team approach linked to specialist children’s hospitals. The network focuses on identifying causes of severe obesity, treating complications, and coordinating referrals. This ensures personalised treatment plans, including family therapy, behavioural coaching, dietary strategies, and mental health support.

We’re so excited to be working on this project, it’s more than just a digital platform; it’s a lifeline for families struggling with childhood obesity and to:

  • Raise awareness about childhood obesity and the CEW Network’s services.
  • Facilitate access to information for families and healthcare professionals.
  • Improve the referral process for children needing specialised care.
  • Showcase the CEW clinics and their vital work in combating childhood obesity.

Stay tuned for updates on the launch of the new CEW Network website!
